Three antique treen spice boxes all different in style but all for the storage of valuable spice.
The one on the LHS is an 18th century walnut and fruitwood box. Similar ones are illustrated in Pinto. It has a rimmed lid with central aperture which screws down tightly on a threaded column and down on to a radiating divisional circular box.
The middle one is a 19th century three tier spice tower with original labels, turned from sycamore from Kent.
The one on the RHS is an oak spice box with sliding lid with interior divisional sections.

These antique treen spice boxes are such a fantastic find for anyone who loves historical kitchenware. The way they stack or nest together shows such clever design, and you can almost still smell the faint aroma of the spices they once held. The rich, aged patina on the wood really brings a sense of warmth and history to any collection!
And when I take a quick break, I usually just check out inatbox since it’s simple and quick to use.
