Take a Closer Look!

Some antiques definitely warrant a closer look and this is one of them.

An antique snuff box in the shape of a book, but look closer as the

detail lifts it into a different class. Firstly note the simulated pages of the book with traces of gilding still remaining. Then the lovely chip carved spine and the carved wooden strap hinges to simulated locking the book. To the front of the antique snuff box is a raised carved shield with the initials W R H and to the back of the book a raised carved shields with the date 1789. It measures 6cm l x 4cm w x 2.5cm d.

What a gem!
