This is an unusual set of cards from the 19th century with words of advice for life. Each card has a different title or proverb followed by an explanatory verse underneath.

Examples are " A fortune with a person is better than a fortune with them',  'Will nothing but a gem do',  "avoid delay', 'take a country walk'and many more.

They come in a wooden box with a paper lined covering of a group of gentleman gathered around a table.
