This is a mahogany boxed folding sovereign/guinea scales in full working order. The box is wider than most, the interior of the box still retains it's paper labels with instructions on how to use the scales and the makers name ' Stephen Houghton, & Son, Ormskirk, successors to A Wilkinson. (Stephen was working 1824 and died  in1839,, his son James continued to use the name probably until 1853)
The box when closed measures 4cm w x 15cm l x 2cm h.
