This is an early 1800s yew wood box, probably used as a sewing box.The large box is veneered with burr yew wood, there is stringing to the edges and a central pannel on the lid with a country scene. There are side handles for carrying, and a kite shaped escutcheon with a working key all standing on four brass ball feet. C1820
