A very nice early 19th century yew wood adjustable candle stand. A candle stick would be placed on top of the lead weighted stand.  The yew wood stand could be adjusted in height with the small side handle which when loosened allows a central yew wood stick to be pulled up from inside the base. Usually made in mahogany or sometimes fruitwood, so being made from yew wood is a rare find! C1820
