A Georgian whitewood reel and sewing box of rectangular form, the sliding lid decorated with a church in landscape on a black ground. Divided  Interior lined with the original pink paper lining, twelve sections. Original brass pin which pulls out to release a drawer underneath for storage of scissors, pins etc. 
Interestingly there is the original lock and key to lock the cotton/silk compartment.
In the drawer underneath also lined with pink paper is a little note, found in a box similar to mine, an extract from a needlework book ..... see images.
It measures 19cm w x 13.5cm d x 11cm h.  c1825/1830
