This lovely early 1800s sewing/reel box has everything going for it.
On the outside the sliding lid has a print of Bognor, on the reverse side of the lid is an old hand written label 'A view of Bognor the Hotel'.
On the side of the box are two oval coloured pictures of other images of Bognor.
Inside the sewing box there is a divided interior with four sections for the cotton reels. Note the holes on the side of the box for the thread to be pulled out from and hence not having to remove the reels or bobbins from the box. It has a larger compartment for scissors etc.
Inside the box there is a hand written note in beautiful hand writing from a lady Mary Chell, dated May 25th 1839, saying that it had previously belonged to her aunt Sarah Tuckley who died 21st January 1839.
The box measures 17cm w x 10.5cm d x 4.6cm h.
