A Georgian Tunbridge Ware nutmeg grater. A real status symbol in the early 1800s when nutmeg was expensive.
On the lid is a picture of Brighton Palace, with two figures dressed in Georgian clothes, surrounded by painted line decoration.
Both the lid and base unscrew, the lid to reveal a grater and the base for storage for nutmegs.
The grater measures 5.3cm h x 5.5cm w.
In very good condition, the transfer picture is intact and clear.
