An antique  Tunbridge Ware 'Go to Bed' with an octagonal body. This example is decorated with geometric patterns to the lid and the main body. It has a screw on lid and on the underside of the base are concentric circles these would provide friction to light a match which was then placed in the boss on the lid. They were used to provide light to go to bed instead of an expensive candle and/or for lighting wax sticks for seal;ing letters. It measures 6 cm h x 3.6 cm w. C1880.
