An antique Tunbridge Ware Go to Bed, the main body being octagonal in shape. It is decorated with geometric mosaic patterns  to each side.  The underside is turned with concentric circles to create a textured finish to strike a non-safety match.
The lid has a small bone finial where a match can be placed. These were used instead of a candle to go to bed or for lighting  wax sticks for sealing letters.
 
It measures 6cm h x 4cm w.
