A rare  C19th olive wood combination travelling candlestick and match box holder. The handle is a hollow tube which covers the candle. It unscrews and then the finial at the top, which is threaded, screws into the hole on the side of the base, to form the handle.
The base in turn unscrews and a few precious matches would  have been stored in there. On the underside of the base is some striker paper, part of the original remains and part is a later piece for striking the matches.
There are a few old shrinkage marks on the handle which are stable  and not really too noticeable.
These travelling candlesticks are unusual pieces to find.
It measures 21.5cm h x6cm w at the base.
