An unusual Scottish specimen woods sycamore wooden snuff box.
The lid inset with eleven titled woods comprising; 'Birk of Aberfeldie, Planted by Queen Mary, Bush aboon Traquair, Elderslie Yew, Oak of Torwood, Birk of Invermay, Trysting Tree, Broom of Cowdenknows, Oak of Albway Kirk, Polwart Thorn, Queen Mary's Yew'.
The base has a transfer 'Auld Lang Syne', words and music in wreath of thistles, slightly worn. The box is stamped vertically inside the lid 'D. Craig, Helensburgh'. Inside there is a worn ink on paper diagram detailing the woods and stating the border wood to be 'Portion of Spanish Armada Vessel Wrecked Off Tobermory'.
It measures 9cm w x 6cm d x 2.5cm h.
