This is a late 19th century sycamore circular reel holder. The lid has a painted transfer of abird and fruit. It lifts off to reveal three wooden spikes for placing cotton reels on.

Note on the outside of the box are three  bone roundel holes through which the cotton could be threaded through.

It measures 8cm w x 5.3cm h.
