A lovely late 18th/early 19th century sailmakers liner, carved with diamonds all over, maybe from the Welsh symbols on lovespoons, meaning wealth or good fortune.
These liners were used for smoothing seams in canvas, this was achieved by pressing and rubbing the heart shaped ends of the liners away from the user and flattening the double line of waxed twin stitches into the canvas.
It measures 16cm l x 2.5cm d x3.8cm w.
