An early 1800s pounce pot with lovely pole lathe turning marks to the saucer top.

These small pots were used to store pounce, before the invention of blotting paper, the pounce was sprinkled on to the paper and then any remaining pounce, which was expensive, was poured back into the pot via the saucer shaped top.
