A lovely 19th century knitting sheath from the north of England. Inlay to the edges and to the main body of the antique knitting sheath. Behind the glass pannel there is a motto "Esteem the Giver' backed onto pink paper card.
This motto has also been used on enamel boxes etc and seems to have been an important phrase in Georgian and Victorian times.
Note the inlay to the flame mahogany body and the scroll end to the knitting sheath.
