An antique C19th  fruitwood, possibly pear wood, adjustable candle stand. The circular top has a small rim around the edge, it has a beautifully turned stem and shaped handle which adjusts a central pole up and down inside the column. The stand sits on a circular base.
It measures 24cm h when closed x 15.5cm w.
These candle stands were originally for placing a candlestick on top, they look good with a big candle sitting directly on the top.
