This is a great late 1700s stable or birdcage candle holder. The metal work is original to the oak turned base and shows great signs of age.The candle holder moves up and down depending on the length of the candle. Note the lovely handmade blacksmith rivets. Often used in stables for lighting, hence its name, the cage to prevent the candle falling out.
