An early to mid 1800s bone alphabet and spelling box with approximately 55 bone letters. The box is mahogany with a shaped sliding lid. The chamfered lid has a bone inset tile with Spelling & Alphabet on it.
These boxes were used to teach children to learn to spell in the nurseries of more affluent homes.
