This is a great piece, made by Prisoners of war in the late 1700s.
This straw work sewing box has a hinged lid with compartments in the top for spools etc and bone apertures on oneside to thread the cotton or silks through. It also has the added feature of a pull out drawer below. The geometric patterns of the straw work both in the interior and exterior, has a variety of lovely colour tones.
There is only a few old repaired patches to the straw box on the outside.
A great box full of history.
It measures 19cm w x 13cm d x 8.5cm h.
