A lovely early 1800's prisoner of war snuff shoe. A very similar shoe is illustrated on page 209 figure from The Prisoner of War book by Clive Lloyd.

It is described as a wooden shoe from  Sissinghurst Castle where the prisoners were housed in the tower well over 250 years ago.

Lovely hand carved  hinged lid and buckle to the front.

A piece of history made by the French prisoners of war whilst in captivity in England.

It measures 12cm l x 3cm w x 3.5cm h.
