This is a late 1700s beech wood box for holding dice.It is made in the shape of a shoe with a painted bone lid , crafted by a prisoner of war. Some of the coloured stripe decoration on the lid are still visible. 
Inside are four bone dice.
It measures 9cm l x 1.5cm h x 2cm d.
