An early 19th century pressed burr wood rectangular snuff box depicting a village scene with musicians, dancers, animals, church and houses. The inside is lined with tortoiseshell, wooden integral hinge. These antique snuff boxes would have been made by using steam to make them relatively soft and then the tops would be impressed with scenes using a metal die, note for the bottom another die would have been used to simulate engine turning. It measures approx 8.5cm wide x 5.5cm d x 1.5cm h.
