A 19th century lignum vitae dice shake.r Note on the inside there are a number of grooved circles going around the inside all the way down the whole length of the shaker. This is for the corner of the dice to catch and be turned. Many items are wrongly described as dice shakers having no grooves on the inside or having a few at the very top.
