A 19th century Irish Killarney Ware watch stand. On the front pannel it is decorated with shamrocks and veneered in arburus wood.
Arbutus wood which was used extensively in this area for Killarney Ware. It has the appearance of yew wood and is often misdescribed. The shrub seemed to thrive in the Killarney Lakes area and hence was used for the souvenir woodenware.
The front folds of the pocket watch stand folds out and back to reveal a section to put thewatch in.
The aperture is just under 4cm w.
