A lovely quality George III oval snuff box with inlay to the top using sycamore, harewood and satin wood, chequered edging and crossbanding edged with box wood. Note the darker shading in parts to give a 3 D effect, by sprinkling hot sand on to the box to darken the wood.
Unusually the base is inlaid as well with a circle containing a star, mahogany and boxwood edging. 
Lovely condition, c1790/1800.
