- A late 1700s carved wooden hunting cup. It combines stylised faces, floral motifs and animals including birds and fish, along with carved rosettes and leaves. The cup would have accompanied hunters on their outings. It was used for drinking, after a successful hunt to celebrate. Sharing the beverage around this bowl was a collective ritual, sealing the success and camaraderie of the hunt. Each hunter owned his own; these objects, were often kept for a lifetime. This example is in particularly good condition.
