A 19th century alphabet box with a divided interior to house each letter of the alphabet and some extra slots for surplus letter tiles.
Each tile has an upper case letter on it, a few have a lower case letter on the other side. There are approximately 100 letters.
The box measures 22cm w x 13.5cm d x 3cm h.
These sets were used as an eductional toy to learn the alphabet, learn to spell and read.
