An early to mid 1800's alphabet and spelling box with bone alphabet letters in a divided interior..Each bone tile is double sided with an upper and lower case letter on either side.
There is an inlaid bone pannel with SPELLING ALPHABET to the sliding lid.
These were used as educational tools, Jane Austen's family learnt to spell using a bone alphabet set!
