A rare complete dissected puzzle / jigsaw dated 1792 of a map of Asia. In a mahogany box with a label of a map of Asia to the lid and to the side a label saying 'A Dissected Map of Asia". It is by Dalton Harvey a well know toy manufacturer.
Dissected puzzles were only started to be made around the 1760's and were costly and time consuming to make. Each piece was hand cut and coloured and hence these were only affordable to royalty, rich families and elite boarding schools where they were used as educational toys. It was only when jigsaw tools were more intricate interlocking pieces made.
