This is an unusual piece, aa antique child's rattle. The piece is well turned and when standing upright looks like a figure, a toy soldier etc. 
When shaken it rattles, there must be a ball or similar in the main body at the base.
A very unusual 19th century Childs toy.
It measures 18.5cm h x 3cm w.
There is a small surface split in the turned section, but minor, see the last photo.
