An unusual 19th century Scottish piggin with alternating staves of sycamore and alder or chestnut bound with willow. A Piggin was a Scottish drinking vessel where two of the staves were longer so that they could be used as handles. Note the detailed rim and feet and the cut out hearts to the longer staved handle. A nice piece of antique Folk Art. Lovely colour and patina. It measures 14cm w x 10cm h x 11cm d.
