A very nice antique treen nutmeg grater in the form of an egg turned from laburnum wood. It measures approx 5cm in height. Unscrews in the middle to reveal a grater which can be removed to store a nutmeg in.There is a small crack in the internal wooden rim but still works fine. Nutmeg graters were real status symbols in the 19th century, and they could be carried around in your pocket, used to grate nutmeg into mulled wine or hot buttered muffins.
