This 19th century Welsh Lovespoon has I'm sure a great story to tell from its past.
It's carved with a heart symbolising love, along with six open carved commas. These are to represent the soul and deep affection. There are also some carved squares to represent wealth and stars to represent a wish for good fortune, a bright future, or to signify a guiding light in a relationship. A star is often used alongside other symbols, such as hearts or wheels, to convey deep affection and romance.
This lovely spoon made from fruitwood has a small very well repaired split to the bowl and I guess was much loved itself.
It measures 26cm l x 4.5cm w.
