A sycamore cased pantochronometer, an example of a pocket floating card sundial compass pantochronometer or “Magnetic Time Keeper”. It combines a sun dial and a universal time dial.
The patent Pantochronometer is a pocket Sundial/Compass that can be used to tell the time all over the world. It has place names around the edge including London, Boston, Japan, Lisbon , Manilla, Calcutta to name just a few.
The label on the inside of the lid has the instuctions on it. The case is sycamore and has a lovely patina, with no splits. The compass works well on a level surface. The face/dial is still clear and does not appear to be faded. The thin glass dome is in tact.
It measures 5,5 cm w.
