A 19th century knitting sheath of unusual form, this would have been gripped under the arm rather than tucked in a belt. It has carved  block like sections, some chip carved decoration and some X motifs for protection against witches. Probably from the Teesdale area. The knitting sheath measures 23cm l x 2cm w.
