A mid to late 1700s circular spice box from the Dr Reckless collection and illustrated in his book page 276.
This circular spice box has a screw on lid and has incised line decoration to the lid. The lid does have a slight warp on closing but does screws down closed. The interior at one stage would have has dividers inside the box and was used for storing different spices in. It dates from the mid 1700s and hence has developed a lovely colour and patina to it.
It is turned from sycamore.
There are a few very, very old woodworm holes, inactive, to the lid.
A great piece of treen full of charm.
It measures 14cm w x 4.5cm h excluding the knob.
