A lovely 19th century mahogany snuff shoe box. This is a very good quality snuff shoe inlaid with brass diamonds and hearts, symbols of love and hence probably made as a love token or given as a wedding gift. Shoes were associated with luck and  snuff shoes can be found with 'Love' or 'My only love' on confirming this link.
