This is a 19th century mahogany card press and holder. This mahogany press with its acorn finial has five mahogany shaped dividers with a cut out section in the middle to pull out a packet of playing cards. More than one box of cards could be stored in each section if required. The press not only acts as a holder for the playing cards but also as a press to keep the cards flat. Antique playing cards were prone to curling at the corners as they were thinner.

This press measures 25cm h x 12.5cm w x 5cm d.
