This is an unusual 19th century pill silverer , turned from lignum vitae, this example  sits on a foot rather than the more usual stem and a foot. It has a pull off lid.
Lovely colour and figuring to the wood.
Pill silvers were used to coat pills in a silver coating to make them look aesthetically more pleasing.
It measures 5.5cm w x 7cm h.
