A late 1800s early 1900s Grodnertal doll, a wooden peg doll, hand-carved as a wooden toy. A single piece body with a painted head and jointed arms and legs.
Wearing a dress.
It measures 30cm h x 8cm w.
The idea was that these dolls were bought as toys and when the children were old enough they would make clothes for them, to practise sewing skills, and then these dolls would sit on a dresser etc.
A nice piece of Folk Art.
