This is such a striking Georgian rosewood tea caddy of sarcophagus form, showing both the Van Dyke triangle on the side of the caddy and the tumbling block cubes on the lid. Lots of different woods have been used to give a contrasting effect.
Inside the tea caddy it is also beautifully decorated with a rosewood panel on the underside of the lid, two lidded tea boxes which are removable, they fit perfectly and just glide back in. Showing perfect precision after 200 years .still. It also has a etched period glass bowl for mixing or for sugar.
The tea caddy measures 31cm w x 17cm h x 15.3cm d.
