An unusual early 19th century dissected puzzle by William Darton and son, 58 Holborn Hil,l London. William Darton operated out of this premises from 1808.
This puzzle has pictures and text of events in the Saxon times including the landing of Julius Caesar in Britain, The death of Edward the Confessor, The massacre of the Danes to name a few. Each piece is backed on to Mahogany. Three of the pieces have been replaced at sometime, all extremely well done. It is still in its original box and still has the picture guide with it.
A rare piece of history.
