This is a nice compact Artist box. It has stamped on the lid 'Department of Science and Art' - Reward. On the inside of the box is the old label still intact with suggestions for use. There is also the manufacturers name Charles Roberson & Co 99 Long Acre, London.
There are various paint blocks, some ceramic paint holders, and a ceramic mixing pallette in the base etc. There is also a working key.

Established in 1820 by Charles Roberson, the company became renowned for producing high-quality art supplies, including watercolors, oils, brushes, and canvases.
The business adopted the name Charles Roberson & Co in 1840, following the dissolution of the partnership between Charles Roberson and Thomas Miller, which had operated as Roberson & Miller from 1828 to 1839. After the split, Roberson continued the business independently at 51 Long Acre, London, under the new name .
In 1853, the company relocated to 99 Long Acre, where it remained a prominent supplier of artists’ materials until 1937.
The name Charles Roberson & Co was used between 1840-1907.
