An early 1800s fruitwood spice muffineer which unscrews in the middle to refill.
This particularly muffineer has some red line decoration on the foot, body and the finial which is not often seen. It also has an interesting arrangement of the sprinkling holes, semi circular with one hole in the middle of each semi circle.
This lovely muffineer has a particularly good colour and patina.
The word muffineer came from the use of these items to shake spice- like cinnamon or pepper, or sugar on to hot buttered muffins.
It measures 14.5cm h.
Good condition with a nice colour and patina.
