This is a  wonderful small size Tunbridge ware desk companion set. Veneered in rosewood with mosaic geometric diamond border on the top. and  a cube shape 3D design using a variety of woods, including ebony, yew wood, walnut and  palm wood to name just a few, on the sloping front.
 On the top there are two small  mosaic inlaid lidded compartments each side of the inkwell,  for spare pen nibs and  stamps and a pen rest holder. On the side of this little box is a drawer for storing stationery, etc.
It all sits on four original bun feet.
The brass topped ink well is a replacement dating from around 1900.
It measures 22cm w x 20cm d x 4.7cm h.
