This is an unusual C19th cotton reel stand because it is made from a staved construction using two different woods, probably sycamore and alder, to give a contrasting and striking  effect. Even the central stem has been made like this along with the central finial.
There are six wooden rods with finials to the top which pull out to store the cotton reels on.
The stand measures approx. 31cm h x 16cm w.
