A rare shaped mid to late 1700s coffee grinder or coffee mill. Each section screws off, the lid  and top section when unscrewed house the metal spindle, which the folding handle stored in the base attaches to. The next section houses the steel grinding mechanism. The base section will collect any of the ground coffee when in use,

These 18th century coffee grinders were expensive to make back in the 18th century not only was lignum vitae wood expensive but so was the steel grinding mechanism.

This coffee grinder measures 18 cm h x 9.5cm w at the base.
