This is an extremely rare George III box, beautifully decorated on all sides and with an image of a lady to the top on the sliding lid. There is a brass ring with a ribbon attached which runs through the box from the front to the back so that when the lid is removed and the brass ring is pulled the ribbon lifts the cards out of the box.

There are 44 lovely gold rimmed thick cards all hand written in ink with a question on one side and an answer on the other.The questions tend to be reflections on love and friendship.

For example;

'What is the difference between an acquaintance and a friend?'

On the reverse it says "The first I occasionally visit with the latter my heart always dwells".

Are you apt to fall in love?

No, in my opinion real love can be felt but once.

This is a real one off item, beautifully made and preserved.

The box measures 10cm h x 7.7cmw x 7cm d.
